The most challenging things about teaching the students to read are that each child has own way to learn something especially on reading. The interesting patterns to teach the children to read support the impression of the children to follow the program. Remedial reading programs are necessary to increase the desire of the children to read and struggle to get the skilled and fluent readers. Irrespective of family background, learning to be a skilled reader is often not a trouble-free process. The reading process has been organized into five major steps: phonemic awareness, phonics, reading comprehension, vocabulary and reading fluency.

Remedial reading programs, personalized tutoring, reading workbooks, educational games, and structured computer reading programs can help teach or reinforce these skills. For the intensive reading program, the children need the practice with the parents support of course. A remedial reading program can be a valuable learning experience and the benefit is they will refresh skills or the children is potential to achieve the goal as the fluent readers. Many remedial reading programs are simply a slower version of reading programs used for typical students, but these don’t necessarily work for typical learners. So it will be more effective to develop the remedial programs with the specific students. Remedial reading programs must meet the needs of a diverse student population. Finding great methods to use with at-risk students is difficult at times. The children have to learn to read about 300- 1000 words per year. How about the parent’s rule? Parents need to support reading programs by becoming active part of their child’s education process and following up with additional reading practice. Parents should read to their kids, help them sound out words, and guide their reading activity, but not do it for them. Guided reading activity requires patience and understanding to help but not get in the way.
